my septate uterus

funny name for a post, huh? After a few different opinions I finally had my level 2 ultra sound to determine the actual shape of my uterus. Typically, women have pear shaped uterus'. At first I was told mine could be a DOUBLE UTERUS, then we moved onto a bi-cornate uterus(heart shaped) and now my diagnosis is that I have a septate uterus. It is kind of like a heart shaped uterus but the outside lining is pear shaped. The good news is that once BP is born I can have my uterus shape FIXED! This made me pretty happy knowing that if we were fortunate to have more children, we wouldn't have to deal with this funky uterus thing! The yucky news is that I have to go back to the specialist every two weeks to have my cervix measured. This is to make sure that I can continue with every day activities. As of now, my cervix and baby are doing GREAT!!!! Cross your fingers for me every two weeks! I included a diagram of a septate uterus. A heart is the first shape that BP is learning - he or she is already advanced! HA HA.....

GO PHILS!

This is a picture of BP's first bear (my mom brought it back from Alaska when vacationing there this summer) with a Phillies onesie on - in the hands of the biggest Phils Phan I know!!! My dad is loving every moment of this ride that the Phillies are giving us - (I think even Dave is getting a little bit into it!)

The News is OUT....

BP, Dave and I are just about finished our 18th week. I can hardly believe that means we are already half way through our 5th month! Things are changing constantly and I am experiencing all the signs that BP is with me. I am loving to see my stomach grow into a baby bump! I popped out last week - it is amazing! I also have been feeling BP move and kick since week 16. Those butterflies (that I orignally thought was maybe just gas) have become my favorite part of the day. Usually BP moves the most when I first get home from school and sit down on the couch. I love to just sit there and spend some QT with that baby. Many times I call Dave over quickly - but he hasn't been able to feel BP move quite yet. Hopefully in the next few weeks....

I am posting the "side view" of my belly (and Dave's). I realized we haven't had any pics of the father to be yet! Tomorrow (Friday) I am telling the students in my class. I am lucky enough to share the news in a pretty unique way...my OBGYN is a mother of one of my students! She is so excited to tell the class with me - we are showing them ultra sounds and she is bringing in a device so that we can all hear the heartbeat, etc. I am pretty happy to be able to make this a learning experience for my students and to share my journey with them! I will be pretty relieved to have the news "out" so that I can stop trying on three things every morning just to decide which of the outfits makes me look the least pregnant (in case a parent is in that day). Full on maternity gear - HERE I COME!!! Thank you for all the posts and well wishes!!! They bring smiles to our faces!

music craving?!?

Okay...so I have heard that some women have very odd food cravings while pregnant. We have all heard the "pickles and ice cream at the same time" along with others. I haven't had an odd food craving yet...BUT I have found that I am having odd MUSIC CRAVINGS. I absolutely had to hear Kenny Rogers the other day. Dave (the great husband he is) began to search the internet for the album I had to have - Kenny Rogers 20 Greatest Hits. Within minutes it was downloaded and playing. I have listened to the album every day since, at every possible moment. I can't get enough of Kenny! I believe that Dave was happy to fulfill the craving easily from the comfort of his own home instead of driving around town in the wee hours of the morning in search of food! And the best news is that BP will definitely "know when to hold em, know when to fold em....know when to walk away, know when to run" promptly when exiting the womb!!!

Maternity Pants - LOVE EM!

Today was the first day I wore MATERNITY pants to school. I had been squeezing into my normal capris and pants for the past two weeks of school. The whole time I am thinking that because I am wearing these "regular" pants - the parents of the children in my class won't know that I am pregnant. I am waiting a little longer before breaking the news...
Anyway - little did I know - the maternity pants actually look BETTER. I think I look LESS pregnant with them on! Plus - they are the most comfortable things I have ever had on my body. No buttons, snaps, zippers, no lines across my stomach from where they cut off my circulation. You just pull those suckers up and go! Going to bathroom is also super easy! Slide down...slide up. Nothing to it. I think I will be very happy in these pants. I even told Dave he should check a pair out for himself!!!
We are halfway through our 16th week. Still feeling great!

CRAVINGS...

my latest craving is actually pretty darn convenient. APPLES. what better time of year to be craving a juicy apple then the FALL? My class trip to the apple orchard will come at just the right time! Red Delicious are my apple of choice right now...but I wouldn't turn any variety away (even Granny Smith apples which i typically turn my nose up at). I am also loving every tomato that Jim (dave's dad) has grown in his garden and sent my way. Sometimes I eat those like apples also!!!

my dad came home from Jefferson Hospital today. He is recovering very well from his spinal surgery. We are glad to have him home!

Happy Labor day to all!
back to my apple...
